Download

Simutrans runs on Windows, Linux, BeOS/Haiku, MAC OS X, and can be compiled on many more systems (it just requires either SDL or Allegro).

Here you can download Simutrans in two ways:

• Installer for Windows, a download manager that helps you to install Simutrans.
• Manual download, download additional graphic packages or install a Simutrans at your way.

Installer for Windows

This is a dowload manager that helps you to download and install Simutrans. You can choose the paksets of your preference in a simple way:

Manual download

If you want to install manually Simutrans, you will need to download:

• one executable compatible with your operating system.
• one or more paksets of the scenery you want to play with.

Once you have downloaded the executable and the paksets, extract them to obtain a single "Simutrans" folder.

Windows native (you may need unicows.dll for Win9x) Windows, with SDL Linux, with SDL and SDL_mixer (If lagging, start with "simutrans -nomidi") Haiku, with SDL Mac OSX Intel, with SDL Mac OSX PowerPC, with SDL

Notes:

• Download repository: Sourceforge download page. The most recent executable version and the matching paksets are there before being available for download here.
• The executable for windows comes in two versions: native and with SDL. If you are using a latin codepage, just download the SDL-version. If you are using unicode (e.g. you are from China, Korea, Japan) you better download the native version.
• Pakset is a graphic package with all economy data for the scenery. For beginners, the pak64 is recommended, since this should work always and is easier than the other paksets. Visit our pakset gallery to know them.
• Remember: after you have downloaded and extracted the filles, make sure that pakset folders are stored in Simutrans folder.

Nightly Builds

Nightly builds are versions only for debugging and testing. These are built automatically from the state of the archives at 3:00 AM (CET), may contain changes which make your savegames unreadable by any official version, or bugs that will destroy your game, or not even run. They are for bug testing only.

Therefore, if you found a bug or a problem, please report it in Development and Bug Report section of the forum.

Makeobj - version 53

Makeobj is needed to create pak-files which contain graphics and data for the game engine. Not needed for play. Makeobj cannot be compiled without many source changes for PowerPC!
